Corrosion: Domesticated and in the Wild

From JPCL, February 2017

More items for Quality Control

By Carl W. Reed, GPI Laboratories, Inc., and Kat Coronado, International Paint, LLC

This article examines the four predominant sources of corrosion that occur “in the wild” and compares them to observational results found in exposure to accelerated corrosion conditions. By combining these observational attributes to mechanistic attributes previously examined, the use of accelerated corrosion testing can be better used as an indicator of how a coating will perform in various environmental conditions....

Comment from S.SANKARA NARAYANAN., (3/15/2017, 10:36 AM)

The article with practical outputs of accelerated weathering tests are always an indicative purpose only.As per actual quality assurance of performance properties determination NATURAL WEATHERING TESTS MUST BE TAKEN UP. Though this procedure is TIME CONSUMING & TEDIOUS, but gives us actual data under real natural conditions. Establishing one time "real natural weathering corrosion"facts could be clubbed with data collected from artificial accelerated weathering tests and developing new products.
