Measuring Dry Film Coating Thickness According to SSPC-PA 2

by William D. Corbett, PCS, KTA-Tator, Inc.

This article gives a brief review of the history of SSPC-PA 2 and describes the five steps to measuring DFT according to the most recent edition of PA 2. The author gives special attention to how PA 2 addresses the required number of coating thickness measurements; the acceptability of gage readings as well as spot and area measurements; nonconforming thickness; and measuring DFT on coated edges and pipe exteriors.

Annual Directory of Industrial Painting Contractors

"The 2013 Annual Directory of Industrial Painting Contractors lists and describes over 1,400 painting contractor firms located primarily in North America, but also in other countries around the world. It is designed to provide facility owners with information about contractors whom owners may wish to consider as bidders on coating and lining projects. Information was obtained through a survey conducted among painting contractors known to JPCL."
